New underpass opens at Stazione Termini
The opening of part of the new pedestrian underpass network at Termini station improves the connection between metro A and B lines and the railway station. The new section has four escalators to allow greater access to the underground.
The works are part of an overall renovation of Termini's underground, designed to decrease commuter congestion and improve safety.
The scheme includes the introduction of 18 escalators on every connecting corridor and the replacement of the 14 existing escalators. Six new lifts are to be provided and two existing ones updated.
The plan also provides a new anti-fire system and a general architectural restyling of the underground.
