New wi-fi hot spots in Rome
The province of Rome will have 200 wi-fi hotspots up and running by Christmas 2009 and 500 by the end of 2010, meaning free public internet access in the designated zones. Hot spots will be found in piazzas, parks, libraries, tourist information points, job centres and local health centres across both the city centre and the surrounding districts.
From December, Piazza del Popolo will be covered by a wi-fi signal; in 2010 free, wireless internet access will also be coming to Piazza Bologna, Piazza Vittorio, Piazza S. Cosimato, Piazza S. Giovanni Bosco, Piazzale della Radio, Villa Carpegna, Parco del Forte Ardeatino, Parco di Villa Bonelli, Via Oderisi da Gubbio, Pigneto and the Giordano Bruno library.
The project, known as Provincia Wireless, is in addition to the 37 wi-fi hotspots that have already been installed around Rome under the city council
