Outstanding citizens.
The American International Club of Rome (AICR) held its annual awards ceremony for outstanding citizens on Fri 11 June. The awards recognise individuals who have contributed to cross-cultural relations in the international community in Rome.
One of this years recipients was Father Michael Vono, rector of St Pauls within-the-Walls, for his work at the Joel Nafuma Refugee Centre. The day centre, located in the crypt of the church, was founded over 20 years ago to provide information, language training and a social venue for refugees in Rome.
