With the United States mid-term congressional elections coming up on 2 November US oversees voters are reminded to register to vote or to make sure that their registration is up to date.

The deadline for registration differs from state to date but it is usually a month before the elections take place.

All seats in the House of Representatives are up for election on 2 November and 36 seats in the Senate (19 Democrats and 17 Republicans).

The current makeup of the Senate is 57 Democrats, 41 Republicans and two Independents. In the House of Representatives there are 255 Democrats and 177 Republicans.

According to useful graphs in US Today that there are close races for Senate seats in 10 states and in 36 states for the House of Representatives.
