Piazza del Popolo became the scene of the largest "Pagina bianca" in Europe on Sunday 7 April as families decorated a 3,000 sqm piece of paper spread out over the sunny square.
Kids of all ages were supplied with 350 pencils and 100 litres of paint and encouraged to leave their mark in what was the city’s second edition of Pagina bianca. Many of the youngest artists drew animals and rainbows while the older participants wrote messages and dedications.
Organised by the city in collaboration with cultural association Art kitchen, the colourful initiative was inspired by the avant-garde Milanese artist Ivan who has undertaken similar projects over the last decade and whose motto is Una Pagina Bianca è una Poesia Nascosta (a blank page is a hidden poem).
