Palaexpo to reopen in September.
Palazzo delle Esposizioni, one of Romes major exhibition centres which has been under reconstruction for years is now due to re-open in September 2007. The huge Palaexpo building in the Via Nazionale is next to the paleo-Christian church, S. Vitale. Between the exhibition centre and the church is an ugly, single-storey row of buildings, which once served as offices to the exhibition centre. The ministry of fine art and culture has now given permission for the building to be demolished and it is hoped that the space will be transformed into a garden area with a second entrance to Palaexpo.
The Palaexpo is expected to open with two exhibitions, one of works by the Russian born American artist Mark Rothko and another on the films of Stanley Kubrick
