Pet burials.
Monica Cirinn, Rome city authoritys head of animal rights, has drawn attention to a regulation in force since November 2005 but unknown to the majority of Rome residents, which states that it is legal to bury domestic pets in private gardens. To perform legally such a burial it is necessary to have the authorization of the veterinary service of the local ASL, which will be given only if it is ascertained that there is no possibility of contagion from infectious disease.
The long-term intention of the comune is to designate an area specifically as a pet cemetery.
