On the night of Sunday 23 June a pink full moon is expected to appear in the sky.
The event occurs once a year when the moon reaches its nearest point to Earth, making it appear much larger than usual as well as being a peculiar shade of pink.
The spectacle can be seen throughout the world, weather permitting.
The next time the phenomenon is scheduled to reoccur is August 2014.
