ATAC and AMA unite for general strike in Rome on 25 October.
Rome is braced for a general strike involving all sectors of the city's 18 municipal companies on Friday 25 October. The strike is expected to affect the entire ATAC network including buses, metro, trams, and light rail lines.
It will also include the city's waste collection company AMA, as well as affecting schools and social services.
The action follows the announcement that Roma Metropolitane, the company overseeing the construction of Rome's Metro C project, is to go into liquidation.
Trade unions say they have called the strike to "defend jobs and democracy."
