Castel S. Angelo is latest Rome monument to get new illumination.
The national museum of Castel S. Angelo and Ponte S. Angelo have been newly illuminated by Rome's energy supplier ACEA.
The new lighting system involves the illumination of the exterior of the former papal fortress in addition to surrounding statues and the adjacent park, with the installation of 220 new flood lights.
The illumination of Castel S. Angelo follows similar lighting schemes installed in recent years at the Theatre of Marcellus, Rome's Synagogue, the Palatine Hill, the Pyramid of Cestius and Porta di S. Paolo, Piazza del Campidoglio and the Castle at S. Severa.
