Rome marks European Heritage Days

Late opening at many Rome museums on Saturday night.

A nationwide programme of events takes place in Italy to mark European Heritage Days which is marked across Europe on the weekend of 23-24 September.

Many of Rome's museums and archaeological sites will stay open until 22.30 on the night of Saturday 23 September, with symbolic ticket prices of €1, and numerous special happenings take place in the city's museums on Sunday 24 September.

Held annually across Europe since 1991, the European Days of Patrimony initiative is designed to emphasise the common cultural heritage shared between Europeans. This year the theme is Culture and Nature.
