Rome recycles Christmas trees
AMA Roma replants healthy Christmas trees in Arcinazzo Romano.
Rome’s refuse collection service AMA Roma has requested that people "who do not have the opportunity to replant their Christmas tree in their garden" should recycle their Christmas tree at its collection centres located around the capital.
The collected Christmas trees will be sent to the AMA facility in Maccarese, 20km west of the capital, to be turned into high-quality fertiliser and compost.
In the cases of healthy, potted Christmas trees the forestry department will replant them at its headquarters in Arcinazzo Romano, 50km east of Rome, as part of its environmental education programme.
AMA has also provided guidelines on the correct disposal of non-recyclable artificial Christmas trees. For locations of collection points and other relevant information tel. 800867035 or see the AMA website.
