Rome stops traffic for two days post Christmas
Rome bans cars on 28-29 December in fight against pollution.
Rome is to follow Milan's decision to ban traffic in the city in an attempt to cut the high levels of pollution. The block on traffic applies on 28-29 December from 10.00-16.00 inside what is known as the Fascia Verde.
The city is also issuing Ecobit tickets for €1.50 to allow travel on public transport all day, instead of the usual 90-minute period.
Retailers in the city have already contested previous rulings on traffic bans by the city commissioner Francesco Paolo Tronca on the grounds that they are hitting sales.
