Rome, Venice and Milan most popular with foreigners
Rome was the most popular Italian city for foreign tourists during the first six months of this year, according to data compiled by leading online hotel reservation company Hotels.com.
The capital was particularly popular with Russian visitors, as well as tourists from Argentina, France, Spain and the US. Venice came in second place on the list, followed by Milan, Florence, Sorrento, Bologna, Naples, Verona, Alghero and Pisa.
The top ten were followed by Palermo, Turin, Genova, Rimini, Taormina, Positano, Siena, Sirmione, Catania and Garda. Meanwhile the cities abroad most popular with Italian tourists during the same period were New York, Paris and London.
