Rome unveils plan for Ara Pacis restyling
On 28 May the mayor of Rome Gianni Alemanno presented the new design for the restyling of the area around the Ara Pacis museum complex, scheduled to begin in October.
Central to the scheme is the construction of a wide staircase and paved area between the church of S. Carlo and the twin churches of S. Rocco and S. Girolamo, which will slope down to the floor-level of the Mausoleum of Augustus and back up towards the Tiber to the street-level of Via Ripetta.
