Rice Bowl Appeal
Every year during the six weeks of Lent, Churches Together, an ecumenical body comprising 11 mainly English-speaking churches in Rome, raises money for the annual Rice Bowl Appeal. The 2013 project "Economic Empowerment Project in Eastern Rwanda" is raising funds to help eradicate malnutrition by teaching orphans to produce food for themselves and their families and as an income-generating activity. Envelopes are available from the city’s participating churches and donations are to be returned by 7 April.
