37 of Rome's bus routes will be diverted on the morning of 17 March, due to state celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy.

At 09.00 the president of the republic, Giorgio Napolitano, pays his respects to the tomb of the unknown soldier in Piazza Venezia, resulting in the partial closure of the square. At 09.15 the presidential cortege makes its way to the Pantheon where the president lays a wreath at the tomb of Vittorio Emanuele II. Following this the president and his entourage travel to the Janiculum hill to visit the monument to Giuseppe Garibaldi and the museum of the Roman republic at Porta di S. Pancrazio. The tour finishes at midday at the Basilica di S. Maria degli Angeli in Piazza della Repubblica.
