The Almost Corner Bookshop is opening another shop, Almost Corner Too, at the beginning of December. The popular English-language bookshop on Via del Moro in Trastevere is opening its second branch, this time across the river on Via Monserrato 49. The new location is just off Piazza Farnese, very close to the Venerable English College and opposite the church of S. Girolamo della Carità.

Dermot O'Connell, who took over the Almost Corner Bookshop more than ten years ago, said the new venture was "not without risk in these difficult times". Nevertheless, he described the expansion as "exciting" and said he and colleague Anita Ross look forward to welcoming friends old and new to both shops.

The two bookstores will have their own distinct "personality". Almost Corner Too will concentrate on Rome, the arts, history, literature, religion and the connections between Italy and the English-speaking world, while the Almost Corner Bookshop will continue to specialise in world fiction, children's books, cooking and health. Both shops will carry a full range of guide books and maps of Rome.

In the last decade Rome has seen the closure of a number of English-language bookshops such as the Lion Bookshop on Via dei Greci, the Economy Book and Video Center on Via Torino, and the English Bookstore on Via di Ripetta.
