Rome's Casilina traffic returns to normal

The complex diversions which have semi-paralysed Via Casilina around the crossroads with Viale Alessandrino since 2007 will finally be removed on Saturday 8 September and traffic should return to normal.

The removal of the diversions comes with the end of work on Metro C station Alessandrino, where only some small deposits of building material will be left to clear up.

The station is on section T5 of the new line, which will connect with line A at S. Giovanni and Ottaviano, and line B at the Colosseum.  The underground and overground stretch from Monte Compatri to Parco di Centocelle stations was completed last June, and the stations are currently being outfitted, both inside and outside.  Technical trials of this stretch are scheduled for November, and the start of passenger service for December.

As a result of the closing of the construction site and the removal of the diversions, bus lines 105, 312, 313, 552, 552F e C9 will return to their original routes.
