Rome's municipal-run museums are open free on 5 May - for residents of the capital - for information see Musei in Comune website.
Domenica al Museo, the free entry scheme to Italy's state museums and archaeological sites, is not taking place however.
Due to recent changes the initiative is now operative only during the off-season, from March to October, with the next edition scheduled for Sunday 6 October.
