Rome's Metro A improvements completed

Metro line returns to normal hours after five months of early closure.

Rome’s Metro A line has returned to its normal opening hours following five months of early closures to facilitate maintenance works on the line.

The upgrading project cost €1.2 million and involved improvements being carried out on 1,800m of track, providing a "significant improvement in travel times of trains" according to the capital's transport councillor Stefano Esposito.

The Metro A line is now open from 05.30-23.30, Sunday to Thursday, and on Friday and Saturday from 05.30-01.30.

The maintenance works began in early April and saw the metro close each evening at 21.30 – except Saturday which kept its normal opening hours – with substitute buses provided in the proximity of the Metro A stations.
