Pedestrian and cyclist bridge links Ostiense with Marconi
The Ponte della Scienza (Bridge of Science) in the Ostiense district of Rome has opened officially, following years of waiting.
The pedestrian and cyclist bridge provides a link across the Tiber between the Ostiense and Marconi quarters of the capital.
Reclamation works are still to be carried out on both river banks but the newly-opened structure near the gasometro has already been defaced with graffiti.
The bridge opens two years after the inauguration of the Cavalcaferrovia Ostiense, nicknamed locally as the “Cobra”, in the same area, connecting motorists between Ostiense and Garbatella.
