A video of people availing of the underground services at Piramide without paying has been posted on the website of La Repubblica newspaper.

The video clearly shows people entering through the emergency exit, and when the filmmaker closes the gate, numerous times, commuters continue to enter, even taking care to close the gate behind them. The video was made over the course of five minutes at an off-peak hour.

Reacting to the film, politician Alessandro Onorato of the Unione dei Democratici Cristiani e di Centro (UDC) said "If there had been station attendants near the turnstiles or surveillance monitoring the emergency exit we wouldn't have had to witness this sad spectacle."
