Traffic restrictions on five Sundays to combat air pollution in Rome.

Rome is to ban motorists from driving within the fascia verde (green belt) on five Sundays between November 2024 and March 2025.

The dates announced by the city are: 10 November, 1 December, 26 January, 16 February and 23 March.

On these days traffic will be banned from 07.30 to 12.30 and from 16.30 to 20.30.

Known as domeniche ecologiche (Ecological Sundays), the traffic restrictions are designed to curb air pollution in the capital.

There are a number of exemptions to the car-free Sundays including less-polluting vehicles, electric cars and those travelling for essential medical treatment.
