Raising money and awareness of breast cancer are the aims of the sixth Susan Komen Foundation Race for the Cure, which takes place on 22 May (10.00).

The 5 km run starts from the Terme di Caracalla stadium; money raised finances education, prevention, treatment and support programmes for breast cancer sufferers. Organisers are stressing that it is not only a race but also a three-day-long celebration, beginning on 20 May in the race village at the stadium, where people can listen to live music and enjoy food and drink. There is also a survivors tent for those who have battled the illness.

Runners must register before 19 May, at a cost of 12.
