Rome's Bioparco in Villa Borghese is organising three "safari nights" on 11, 18 and 25 July, allowing visitors to observe the zoo's residents by night. Zookeepers will conduct the tours using special torches whose blue rays don't disturb the sleeping animals. The visit begins at the reptile and insect enclosure before moving onto the houses of larger animals such as giraffes, elephants, tigers, bears and monkeys. Those interested in going on the tour – which departs at six different times: 20.30, 20.45, 21.00, 21.15, 21.30, 21.45 – must book in advance on www.bioparco.it. Visitors are advised to show up half an hour before their scheduled tour. Bioparco, Piazzale del Giardino Zoologico 1.
