Rome street closures for Sardine rally on 14 December.
Rome will close numerous streets in the S. Giovanni area of the city for a demonstration of the Sardine movement on Saturday 14 December.
The rally, "to protest against any form of violence and discrimination", is scheduled from 15.00 until 19.00 in Piazza di Porta di S. Giovanni.
A parking ban will be in place in the area from early morning, with streets surrounding the piazza closed from 13.00.
The rally will also see the diversion of buses, the number 3 tram and the Metro A and C stops at S. Giovanni subway station. For transport updates see Muoversi a Roma website.
The Sardine movement was founded in response to the rise of nationalism and the far-right in Italy, and is particularly against the anti-migrant policies of the Lega party and its leader, Matteo Salvini.
