Rome investigates behaviour of bus driver.
City authorities have launched an investigation into the case of a Rome bus driver who ordered passengers off before loading his scooter aboard the bus and driving away.
The unidentified driver, described by passengers as "tall, greying and 40-ish", is quoted in Rome daily newspaper Il Messaggero as saying "I needed [the scooter] to get home."
The incident occurred on the evening of 18 October at the Quattro Venti terminus in the Monteverde area, on the 982 route operated by Roma TPL, the capital's suburban bus company.
The behaviour of the driver has been described as "absolutely intolerable" by the city's mobility councillor Pietro Calabrese who says: "I expect an explanation from the company as soon as possible and I hope it will take measures against the driver."
