GNAM hosts selfie competition to promote culture
The Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna (GNAM) in Rome has launched a competition called #Selfiedautore for which contestants must take a “selfie” photograph of themselves in front of a piece of art from the gallery's collection.
Participants can choose any work of art from GNAM or its affiliated museums: Museo Andersen nearby in the Flaminio area, Museo Boncompagni off Via Veneto, Museo Praz near Piazza Navona, or the Manzù Collection on Via Laurentina.
Contestants should send their selfie with the title and artist of the work and date of photograph, along with their name, email address and subject #selfiedautore to gnam.contest@gmail.com by 6 January.
All selfies will be published online where they will be voted on by the public. The 50 photos that receive the most amount of "likes" by 6 January will be judged by a jury that will select the five most original on 8 February. The jury will also select a photo to be used in a video to post on Youtube GnamVideo.
The Associazione Amici dell’Arte Moderna di Valle Giulia is organising the #Selfiedautore contest which it says is about spreading a positive, fun message of culture at a difficult time for cultural institutions.
There are a range of technological prizes on offer, including smartphones. For more information about the competition and the prizes see GNAM website.
