September strikes.
The autumn season of public transport strikes is about to begin, with the following announced as the official strikes in September:
7 September. Alitalia's 24-hour strike for this date has been called off until later in the month, however 179 national and international flights have been cancelled.
15 September. 24-hour national strike of city public transport (buses, trams and metros).
27 September. Railway strikes throughout Italy between 9.00 and 18.00.
9 October. Members of the autonomous union SULT will block the Rome airports of Fiumicino and Ciampino from 12.30 to 16.30. Alitalia's ground and flight staff will hold a 24-hour strike in protest against the airline's alleged failure to maintain promises over contract renewals and also over rumours of Alitalia being sold off or broken up.
