Share an electric car.
Rome city council is setting up a car-sharing scheme. It plans to buy 300, four-seater electric cars; these will be hired out from stands at the major car parks near the city centre, to people who park their vehicles and then come into the restricted zones of Rome. There will also be hire-stands within the restricted areas so that residents can use an ecological vehicle for a limited time at a reasonable price, instead of their more traditional cars. The hire price has still to be decided but is expected to be a minimum of 3 for half an hour and up to 5 km. The cars should be on the streets by summer.
