Sotheby's first Roman sale.
Sotheby's the fine art auctioneers are holding a sale in Rome for the first time on Tuesday 18 May. The contents of a luxurious apartment in Piazza Farnese will be sold off in 553 lots including marbles, busts, bronzes, furniture, snuff boxes, miniatures, silver and some paintings.
The sale will be held in the Casina dell'Aurora Pallavicini, famous for the beautiful ceiling fresco of Aurora by Guido Reni. The articles on sale will be on show to the public at the Casina dell'Aurora Pallavicini on 14, 15 and 16 May from 10.00 -20.00. Anyone wishing to bid should take an identification document and their codice fiscale in order to register and obtain a "paddle" with which to bid.
