Rome has dedicated Sunday 21 October as Spqr Sports Day, with Via dei Fori Imperiali being transformed into an open-air gym from 10.00-18.00.

The family-friendly day out features dozens of mini sports camps along the street – pedestrianised for the day – with over 40 sporting events including volleyball, penalty shoot outs, basketball, dancing, skating, hockey, baseball, badminton, archery, fencing, wrestling; you can even try tackling American footballers or shoot targets through a simulator.

Participants will have the added fun of meeting sports champions who will be on hand to sign autographs and take part in sports demonstrations.

Sporting and health groups will be available to offer advice and provide free medical check-ups.
