Steam train to the hippodrome.
A steam train will be running to Rome's horse racing track, the Ippodromo di Capannelle, on three days in May. Timed to coincide with three important races, on Sat 1 May, Sun 16 May and Sun 30 May, a steam locomotive from the early 1900s will be pulling four carriages from Termini to Capannelle station, where a shuttle will then take passengers to the hippodrome. The 20-minute journey to the track in south-east Rome takes in the archaeological Parco degli Acquedotti. Return tickets cost 15, which includes admission to the race. The train leaves Termini at 12.30, and returns from Capanelle at 18.30. For information tel. 0644180240.
