Pixelpancho creates mural in Rome's Primavalle district.

Turin street artist Pixelpancho has completed a 10m-high mural depicting the Greek mythological tale of Theseus stabbing the Minotaur, in the disadvantaged west Rome suburb Primavalle.

The two characters are painted in the trademark style of the artist, who is known internationally, involving complex compositions featuring surreal robot-like characters.

The mural was organised by Rome's Galleria Varsi and Primavalle street art organisation Muracci Nostri, with support from the capital's social housing body Ater Roma.

The large-scale work coincides with Pixelpancho's Rome show Androidèi featuring robots and gods becoming one entity in which “supernatural and sacred elements mingle and become iron and oxide.”

The exhibition takes place until 13 April at Galleria Varsi, Via S. Salvatore in Campo 51, which has been transformed for the occasion, with statues, climbing plants and soil on the floor.
