Università La Sapienza ranked first in world for Classical Studies and Ancient History.
Rome's Sapienza University has been ranked the top university in the world for Classical Studies and Ancient History in the 2019 edition of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings.
The Rome university also came 11th in Archaeology, 34th in Physics, and 43rd in Librarianship in the list compiled each year by the London-based global higher education analysts.
There are a total of 41 Italian universities in the list of 1,222 top colleges, classified under 48 categories, with Italy coming fourth in Europe, after the UK, Germany and France.
The Politecnico in Milan is the only Italian university that ranks among the top 10 in three disciplines.
The list is topped by Harvard, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with Oxford in third place.
