Ecuadorian tourist carves names into Rome monument.
A 55-year-old Ecuadorian tourist was caught carving the names of his wife and daughter into one of the columns of Rome's Colosseum on 10 April.
The man, who used a coin to scrawl the names of his wife and daughter, was fined for aggravated damage of a building of historical and cultural interest.
The tourist was caught in the act by a member of a special team which guards the Colosseum from such incidents.
It is the latest in a string of cases involving tourists vandalising the monument.
