Tourists still love Rome.
Rome is the only Italian city still to feature in the top ten European tourist destinations, according to research carried out by Italys Buon Viaggio Network. Paris retained the number three spot, although Madrid and London have dropped out of this years top ten ranking. The Eternal City came in at seventh place, with the Buon Viaggio Network stating a host of reasons why tourists come time and again in such large numbers From Romes vast cultural heritage, to the sheer weight of facilities, with some 1,800 hotels offering almost 143,000 rooms in the city and surrounding Lazio region. The results were based on information provided by 240 affiliated travel agencies and presented at the 2005 World Travel Market exhibition in London.
