Traffic-free Sunday on 10 April
Last anti-smog Sunday of the winter season coincides with annual Rome marathon.
Traffic will be blocked in Rome's ZTL (zona di traffico limitato) and green zone on Sunday 10 April between 07.30 and 12.30 and again between 16.30 and 20.30. Only the least polluting vehicles will be allowed on the roads, such as those powered by GPL and methane, as well as electric, hybrid and Euro 6 cars.
As usual the city bus company ATAC has been asked to increase its bus and metro services.
A number of initiatives are programmed that day especially at the Biopark and around the Colosseum, which is the start of the annual marathon on Sunday.
The traffic block will complicate the Jubilee edition of the annual Rome run in which over 16,000 athletes take part. The full marathon, which used to be held at the end of March, starts at 08.30 at the Colosseum.
