Train services from Rome to Fiumicino airport and Civitavecchia port have been disrupted by the extensive theft of copper wires along the tracks between Roma Ostiense and Ponte Galeria west of the capital.
Train links to Fiumicino airport are currently suspended, replaced by shuttle buses, and there are delays on the FR5 Civitavecchia route which will affect tourists travelling between the port and the city.
The Leonardo Express has been replaced by a bus service from Termini to the airport in Fiumicino; likewise a bus has replaced the FR1 train from Ostiense.
The announcement was made the Italian Rail Network (RFI) which said that engineers are working to restore circulation.
