Transport strikes in Italy
Travellers in Italy can expect disruptions over the next few days due to strikes or threats of strikes in various sectors.
Pilots and flight attendants working for the Italian flag carrier Alitalia are striking on 16 February from 12.00 to 16.00, with flight cancellations and disruptions to services as a result. For information contact the free phone number 800650055.
Problems for air travellers are compounded by a parallel strike by employees of the group Meridiana-Eurofly on the same day.
On 19 February it is the turn of the railways and local public transport networks, with a four-hour strike announced between the hours of 08.30 and 12.30. In Rome there are likely to be disruptions to buses, trams, the metro and services on the Roma-Civitacastellana-Viterbo, Roma-Ostia Lido and Roma-Giardinetti railway lines.
