New traffic restrictions in Trastevere will come into effect on Friday 7 May. From then the area will be closed to all but local traffic on Friday and Saturday nights from 21.00 - 03.00.

Trastevere, one of the most popular areas of the city with tourists and locals, has a very active night life and to facilitate access to the area ATAC (the city public transport service) has introduced two new shuttle buses which will run on Friday and Saturday nights from 21.00 - 3.00. The number 121 will run from the Piazzale dei Partigiani (Piramide) to Via Santini and Piazza Mastai (Trastevere), and the number 122 will leave from Circo Massimo (Roseto Comunale) on a round trip to Piazza Sonnino (Trastevere) and back.

The number 8 tram from Via di Torre Argentina to the Circonvallazione Gianicolense will continue service until 3.00 on Saturday and Sunday mornings

The new restrictions are experimental and will be in force until 9 October
