Street closures and bus detours for Good Friday ceremony
Via dei Fori Imperiali will be completely closed to traffic on 3 April, from 09.00 until midnight, to make way for crowds coming to see Pope Francis lead the traditional Good Friday Via Crucis ceremony at the Colosseum at 21.15.
The Colosseum and Palatine will close to visitors at 15.00, with last admission at 14.30, and the Metro B Colosseo stop will also be closed from 15.00. Those wishing to reach the Colosseum area on the Metro B after 15.00 will have to get off at either Cavour or Circo Massimo.
The Via Crucis ceremony will lead to a number of bus detours in the area as well as the closure of nearby streets Via Celio Vibenna and Via di S. Gregorio from 19.00.
