Kenya, Ethiopia and Bahrain dominate 24th Maratona di Roma.
The winner of the 2018 Rome Marathon on 8 April was Kenyan Cosmas Birech who crossed the finish line with a time of 2:08:03, followed by Bahrain's Abdi Ibrahim Abdo (2:08:32) and Paul Kios Kangogo in third place (2:09:20).The fastest woman was Ethiopian Rahma Tusa who won a third straight title in Rome, clocking 2:23:46. Tusa was followed in second place by Bahrain's Abdulkadir Gosa Dalilia (2:26:46) and Kenyan Alice Jepkemboi Kibor (2:28:19).
The fastest wheelchair athletes were Spain's Rafael Botello Jimenez (1:54:19) and Margriet Van Den Broek from the Netherlands, who finished with a time of 2:21:41.
About 14,000 runners from 131 nations took part in the marathon, with around 80,000 people entering the non-competitive 5km Fun Run.
