Work finished on metro A.
Rome public transport operator ATAC has announced the completion of work begun in January 2005 on metro A to improve ventilation, security and communication systems. The work was initially scheduled to finish by October 2007 but stalled due to archaeological finds at Manzoni station, which has also been given a facelift. In addition, the project has seen the introduction of 33 new air conditioned trains for metro A and ticket barriers for the entire metro system (lines A and B), which are touted to have increased ticket sales by over ten per cent and boosted ATAC
