Landmark Rome fountain currently empty due to maintenance.
Rome's Trevi Fountain will be without water until 27 September as the city carries out maintenance work on the Baroque monument.
The city said the works are necessary to deal with "wear and tear" on the fountain which underwent a €2 million restoration, sponsored by luxury fashion house Fendi, between 2014 and 2015.
In August the city suggested reviving measures to control the flow of crowds at the fountain which attracts vast numbers of tourists every day and is regularly the scene of tourists behaving badly.
