Fundraiser in Rome to mark World Food Day.
Registrations are open for the Zero Hunger Run 10-km and five-km fundraiser event in Rome on Sunday 16 October, to mark World Food Day and to inform public opinion about the need to end hunger in our lifetime.
The event is organised by the United Nation’s Rome-based agencies The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the World Food Programme (WFP), as well as Biodiversity International, in collaboration with city authorities.
Formerly known as the "Run for Food" and then the "Hunger Run", the annual event has been renamed the Zero Hunger Run to underline the commitment of 193 nations to the Sustainable Development Goals and their pledge to end hunger by 2030.
Both the ten-km race (open only to athletes with a FIDAL membership card) and the non-competitive five km run or walk (open to all) take place in the historic centre, which will be closed to traffic.
Runners begin assembling on Viale delle Terme di Caracalla from 08.00 and the race starts at 10.00 from the Nando Martellini Stadium (Baths of Caracalla).
