3-4 June 2005. A huge celebration of performance arts, first staged back in 1984, is an opportunity for any artists and companies to get their work seen and provoke a reaction. The Performance Marathon aims to appeal to a new audience as well as the aficionados, and draw them to the latest generation of artists. The three main stages feature a series of events by theatre groups, performers and musicians from around the world staging recitals, music and audio-video with a splendid variety of experimental and innovative productions. Of the 200 plus artists showcasing their work, dont miss the Brazilian dance group Caporeira Raizes de Senzala, and the Irish Tap Dancing Company, Celtic Caos. The other attractions include a circus, fairground and picnic area, where the public can also benefit from the hundreds of impromptu, fringe performances of installations and exhibitions around the site. Admission is free.
