9-12 June 2005. This year the International Comics Fair, now in its 23rd edition, takes place at the Fira de Barcelona. Several thousands are expected to attend and visit the many stands featuring over 100 comic and fanzine producers including the legendary Marvel Comics and Panini Comics, not to mention such household names as Batman, Spiderman, and more recently The Invincibles. The fair is not just about browsing the magazine racks though; there is a workshop for those wanting to try their hand at creating a comic of their own and a special area, the Comicteca, set aside for three to seven year-olds. There is also Projection Room showing the latest in animation mastery from around the world. There are a number of awards such as for best comic, best script, and best foreign publication that are chosen by a panel of authors, publishers, comic shops and press. Admission costs 6 (2-3 with concessions). Thu 9th and Sun 12th from 10.00 to 20.00 (Fri 10th and Sat 11th until 21.00).
