30 April-30 June 2005. Florences performing arts festival is in full swing with the last of the operas on the programme Mussorgskys Boris Godonov directed by the fashionable Lithuanian Eimuntas Nekrosius with a handful of top-class singers (17-28 June); Claudio Abbado is on the podium of his Orchestra Mozart at Teatro della Pergola (12 June), pianist Aldo Ciccolini plays Debussy and Mussorgsky (18 June), Semyon Bychkov conducts the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and pianist Lang Lang (22 June), and Bychkov again leads the Florentine orchestra for the closing concert (30 June). Meanwhile the ballet company Maggiodanza performs Giorgio Mancinis brand new Romeo and Juliet (7-13 June) and art exhibitions dedicated to Maria Callas and costume and jewellery designer Ebe Stignani complete the fare.
